This will enable us to find out what you are struggling with and to look at what you would like to achieve from counselling. More importantly this will give us the opportunity to find out if we are a good fit and can work together.

I can answer any questions you may have. At this point you can either decide to book a first appointment straight away or you can take more time to think about it and get back to me when you feel ready.

The number of sessions depends on the reason you have come to counselling. However, for meaningful change to occur, I recommend eight to twelve sessions on a weekly basis. You may find, for example, that six to eight sessions provide enough support for what you need right now. Alternatively, you might feel that longer-term counselling offers an opportunity to explore things in greater depth. There is no right or wrong way—it is entirely your choice and depends on what feels right for you and your circumstances.

Ongoing therapy sessions last 50 minutes and are usually held weekly. Once you decide to proceed with counselling, your regular session time will be reserved for you as long as you wish to continue attending.

I will send you two forms that you can complete prior to your first session. The first will provide me with information about you such as contact details, some brief health information and what you hope to achieve from counselling. The second is our counselling agreement.

At the beginning of the first session I will check if you have any queries or concerns.

Yes, confidentiality is an essential part of our counselling relationship. All that takes place between us each session is treated with respect and discretion. There are exceptions to this which will be explained in the agreement.

As long as you are somewhere that you feel comfortable, safe, can talk freely and undisturbed, it doesn't matter where you are based. It's whatever works for you.

Yes! I am based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. If you are local then your'e welcome to switch between face to face and online sessions.
