What is counselling and how does it work?

I focus on supporting individuals navigating the complexities of midlife. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, juggling countless responsibilities, or simply struggling to find balance, you’re not alone. Life at this stage can often feel like you’re spinning too many plates—balancing work, family, relationships, and feel as though there’s no time left for you.

A Safe Place to Explore and Grow

Counselling is a space where you can pause, and focus on yourself. It’s a confidential, non-judgmental environment where we work together usually on a weekly basis to explore the challenges you’re facing, whether it’s stress, burnout, changes in relationships, or questioning the direction your life is taking. It's not about me telling you what to do but helping you find your own answers, so you can gain clarity, find new perspectives, and develop tools to cope more effectively.

Embracing the Process

Coming to counselling for the first time can feel daunting—I understand that. You might wonder, “What will I talk about? Will I be judged? Will this even help?” These are very common concerns. It’s natural to feel nervous about opening up to someone you’ve never met. But in our sessions, there’s no pressure to have all the answers or know exactly where to start. The most important thing is showing up and being open to the process.

Your Counselling Journey

Our first session will be about getting to know each other. You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. We’ll talk about what’s going on for you and what you hope to achieve through counselling. My role is to listen, to help you untangle your thoughts, and to support you in making sense of how you’re feeling. Whether you’re dealing with feelings of being stuck, anxious, or unsure of your next steps, counselling can be a valuable tool in helping you find your way forward.
