Single Session Therapy (SST)

What is SST?

We will work together, focusing on a single issue with the intention of me helping you walk away from the session with the help you are looking for, which when you implement it will make a meaningful difference to your life. The session lasts up to 50 minutes.

Is SST for me?

Sometimes all we need is one conversation to get things moving in the right direction. SST is perfect if you have a specific issue you'd like to focus on or if you're facing a tough decision, feeling stuck or looking for some clarity or guidance. This focused session will help you explore solutions and take actionable steps forward.

No long term commitment is required, just timely and effective support when you need it most.

What can SST help me with?
People seek help with a wide range of difficulties. To name a few include stress, anxiety, conflict, relationship issues, procrastination, bereavement/loss, uncertainty or just feeling stuck.

Can I prepare for SST?
Some clients find it helpful to complete the Pre-Session Questionnaire. While this is optional the questionnaire is designed to help you prepare for the session so you get the most from it. Sharing the questionnaire with me before the session also helps me prepare for the session.

What does SST involve?
Once you have made the decision to have SST I will:

  • Send you a contract to sign & invoice. On receipt of these we will make an appointment which can be in-person or online via Zoom (you don't need to have a Zoom account as I will send you a link in the confirmation email.)

  • I start by checking if you understand the purpose of the session & help you clarify what you want to take away from the session.

  • We will agree on a focus for the session, which is usually the issue for which you are seeking help.

  • I will help you to discover a potential solution to your issue & encourage you to rehearse it in the session to see if it is right for you.

  • If it is, then I will help you develop a plan to implement the session and clarify with you what your takeaways are from the session.

What happens at the end & after our session?

We will discuss the next steps which are:

  • You conclude that you’ve got what you came for and need no further help

  • You decide you’d like time to put into practice what you've learned and then decide if you need further help.

  • You decide that you would like further help which might include having another session, time-limited therapy or ongoing therapy.
